How to Set Up a Counselor Profile

A good counselor profile can be the key to getting the students that fit you best.

Write for the student who should choose you

The strongest profile is not the broadest profile. It should make clear what kinds of students you understand, what kind of work you are good at, and how you approach feedback.

Students are trying to imagine what it would feel like to work with you. Explain your personal background, the kinds of help you're the best at giving, the admissions problems you solve well, and the students who tend to benefit from your style.

Choose the right visibility

Public profiles can be found through browse. Unlisted profiles stay out of public browse but remain available through a shareable link. Private profiles are for counselors who do not want new students contacting or booking them.

Add offerings before you expect bookings

Students need something concrete to buy. If your profile only says that you can help with applications, families still have to guess what the next step is.

Create offerings that match how you work best: hourly strategy, essay review, package support, async feedback, or document products. Clear offerings reduce back-and-forth and help students choose the right entry point.

Keep availability and payouts ready

If you sell meetings, set availability so students can book your services. Make sure to keep your payout setup current so checkout and payouts do not get stuck at the moment someone is ready to buy.
